Tom Hinchliff joined the Richter team in Huddersfield as a Graduate Design Engineer in July 2021. He was recently awarded the Booth King Engineering Prize for Excellence, which is awarded for outstanding performance in the individual project module taught at the University of Salford.

Scoring 80%, Tom achieved the highest dissertation mark in his MEng civil engineering year and is enjoying being able to work on so many different types of projects with the teams here at Richter, putting what he’s learnt at university into good practice.

As Tom was presented the award by Dr. Georgina Harris, Director of Engineering at the University of Salford, he told us, “It means a lot to receive recognition for all my hard work this year and it’s a fantastic way to finish my time at university”.

Andrew Lowe CEng MIStructE MICE CMgr MCMI, Associate Director of the Huddersfield office who works with Tom everyday comments, "Since joining the team, Tom has demonstrated that he has the makings of a fine engineer. It’s clear that he made the best of his time at university and the prize is just reward for his hard work and effort. Tom is quick to learn new methods and keen to develop his understanding and knowledge. He has applied himself well to the tasks that he has been given, contributing to the design of several live schemes. I have no doubt that Tom will continue to develop his skills as a valued member of our team".

From all your colleagues a Richter, congratulations Tom, well done!
